An original oil painting of a shoreline packed with birch and pine tree shadows reflecting on water is part of my childhood memory.
For two weeks every August my brother and I piled into the backseat of our non-air-conditioned Chevy Bel Air. To fight off the sweltering Detroit heat we'd crank down the windows as we journeyed to Traverse City, Michigan eagerly awaiting a dip in cool Elk Lake. To this day, those fond memories and scents inspire me.
